The challenge

Remittances are one of the most consequential payment flows in the world and one of the worst-served: opaque fees, slow delivery, and onboarding that assumes the sender has time and paperwork to spare. The client, a regulated Latin American business neobank, wanted a product that was honest and fast on all three counts — a flat fee, minutes to sign up, minutes to deliver.

The regulatory structure shapes the architecture. Moving consumer money out of the USA means operating with a licensed US money-transmitter partner, so the product has to deliver a seamless consumer experience while every transfer runs through a compliant, partnered flow underneath. Speed could not come at the cost of the licensing structure that makes the product legal in the first place.

What we built

We designed and built the product end to end: a mobile onboarding flow tuned to complete in under three minutes, and a transfer flow that charges a flat $1.99 fee per transfer — no spread games, no tiered surprises. A flat fee is a product decision, but honoring it is an infrastructure decision: the rails underneath have to be efficient enough to sustain that price on every transfer.

Delivery is where the product differentiates. Recipients get funds in minutes, to a bank account or straight through WhatsApp — meeting people on the channel they already use every day instead of forcing a new app onto the receiving side. Underneath, transfers run through the licensed US money-transmitter partner, keeping the consumer experience simple and the compliance posture clean.

The outcome

The product is live in production: onboarding completes in under three minutes, every transfer costs a flat $1.99, and delivery lands in minutes to a bank account or WhatsApp. Those three numbers are the entire pitch to a sender who is used to paying more, waiting days, and guessing at what the fee will actually be.

For the neobank, this was one pillar of a product suite we designed and built across its ecosystem — consumer remittances, a stablecoin exchange, and real-world-asset tokenization, each live in production. The remittance product proves the model: a regulated structure underneath, consumer simplicity on top, and pricing that stays flat because the infrastructure can afford it.
