Merchant Checkout on Stablecoin Rails

$4M+
processed since launch

The challenge

Accepting stablecoin payments is easy to demo and hard to productize. Merchants do not want to think about chains, wallets, or settlement mechanics — they want a checkout that works like any other and money that arrives in the currency they actually operate in. The client wanted to extend its settlement rails into a product any merchant could adopt without a crypto education.

That framing sets the engineering bar. Hosted flows and payment links have to be simple enough to drop into an existing business, while the machinery underneath — payment detection, settlement, delivery in the merchant’s preferred currency — has to be as careful as the cross-border settlement system it shares rails with. A checkout is a promise about money, and it has to be kept every time.

What we built

We built the checkout as two thin surfaces over proven rails: hosted payment flows for merchants who want an integrated experience, and payment links for everyone else — a URL a merchant can drop into an invoice or a conversation and get paid through. Both surfaces feed the same settlement pipeline, so there is one set of payment states to operate rather than two products to maintain.

Settlement runs over the same stablecoin rails as the firm’s cross-border settlement network, which meant the hard problems — settlement states, idempotent retries, reconciliation against onchain and provider records — were already solved and production-tested. The checkout layer’s job is turning a customer’s intent into a tracked payment and delivering funds in the merchant’s preferred currency, and it stays deliberately small.

The outcome

The checkout has processed more than $4M since launch, settling into each merchant’s preferred currency — merchants never need to hold, price, or even understand stablecoins to get paid over them. For the client, it turned existing settlement infrastructure into a second product line, built largely from components already proven in production.

Because it shares rails with a network that has settled nine-figure volume, the checkout inherits a level of reliability it could never have earned on its own this early. That is the compounding return of building settlement infrastructure well once: each new product on top starts from proven settlement machinery, not from scratch.
